I just noticed this recall for my 24 LT in the My Chevrolet App, it sound like a bad one. I've engaged the PB (or put in it park) at a 2 mph slow roll and it is jolting to say the least, I can't imagine what highway speed would feel like:

Description
General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2024 – 2025 model year Chevrolet Blazer EV vehicles. The rear parking brake wiring harness in these vehicles may become damaged or corroded, resulting in unintended actuation of the parking brake or loss of parking brake function. If the parking brake actuates while driving, there is increased risk of a crash. If parking brake function is lost, the vehicle may roll away while unattended, increasing the risk of a crash.

Repair Description
Dealers will inspect the harness and, if necessary, reroute the harness and install anti-abrasive tape. A harness with existing damage will be replaced.

Word on the Facebook group shows that Dealers have been issued a Stop Sale for Blazers over this. (Although not confirmed, and the one post I saw they said their dealer is going to attempt to be able to sell it still after inspecting the parking brake). Take it for what it is....

Both my 2025 SS (Not quite 2mo old) and my Wife's 2025 RS RWD (Not quite 2 weeks old) do not show affected in the MyChevy app, NTSB site, nor Chevy's website when the VIN is popped in.... yet. Just checked now (11am ET 6/27)

Received the OFFICIAL letter yesterday, 8/6/2025. I had seen it in the My Chevy App and OnStar message. Took the vehicle in right away before the July forth holiday. The dealership was unaware, looked the car over and said they need to order the part(s). I guess for me no damage - yet - but dealer stated they need clips. In between these times, drama building, I get a email from GM to rate my dealers service. So I shared the above details.
Monday this week I get a call from GM following up on the survey. Caller stated that the dealer will in gact eventually get parts in and then we should have brought the car in for inspection = repair. As someone in this chain stated, I don't want to see what it feels like to steer an out of control vehicle when /if the rear brakes lock up. Right?

THANKS FOR READING..... Still loving my BLAZER EV. (My second of three EV's)

They announced today only 2024 and 2024 Blazers produced BEFORE Jan 31st 2025 are under the recall.

Both my 2025 SS (April 2025) and Wife's 2025 RS RWD (March 2025) are unaffected.

Seems to me if a dealer has a vehicle on the lot still manufactured on 1/31/2025 or before, it would be subject to a stop-sale until they inspect it and put tape or reroute it. (It shouldn't need replacement if its basically new on the lot...in theory). If it was produced after that... free to sell.

Im pretty sure it is what was replaced last winter on my LT 2024. My car could not drive anymore. This is a serious issue. I love my Blazer but i regret buying it since GM is absolutly zero proactive in delivering what we were suppose to have in this car. Absolut lack of software update combined with the fact that we cant use apple carplay and android auto as a backup plan. This is a freaking mess

We get to know that there are 40K Blazers sold or on dealership lots upto January or so

You seem to be the first person reporting to have the parking brake malfunction on you on this forum.

Im mostly writing on the Blazer EV Facebook group of people from Québec and there a couple of people who experienced the same problem. I have a theory. My parking brake cable was corroded and it's probably because here in Québec, the rain, snow, slushy and salty road did contributed to speed up the corroding process. My Blazer already have more than 61,000km at the odometer and everyone who had the same problem had high count on the odometer too. Most people on this forum are mostly from the USA. Sure the upper states need the Canadian border get some snowfalls here and then but Canadian winter is another level hehe.

The fact that I have already experienced the problems shifting out of park a couple times likely means the cable in my vehicle is compromised. Hopefully there is something they can do to triage the problem so that the wait for the parts does not become a crash waiting to happen.

Yes, this is a serious recall. The risk of the parking brake activating while driving or failing to hold the vehicle when parked can lead to a crash. Since parts or inspections aren’t yet available, monitor the My Chevrolet App for updates. Avoid engaging the parking brake while moving and take extra care when parking. Get the recall addressed as soon as it becomes available.

I saw the stop sale at many dealers as I was shopping for the Blazer EV. I go a real new one, only 7 days on the lot, and there is no issue with this recall. But I wonder how GM fixed this a few months ago at the factory and did not recall these older Blazers several months ago. I would like to know how they fixed this on newer Blazer EVs and if that fix is really a good long term solution. Can anyone tell me how they changed newer Blazers at the factory.

I have experienced a symptom of the recall. On at least two occasions I had a great deal of difficulty taking it out of park. One time was in my driveway, when I stopped to pickup the mail. Another made me late for an appointment. Scary to know that another possibility is total rear wheel lockup while driving. And since this system does not trigger antilock, that means at the very least a huge skid, possible into other vehicles, into the on-coming traffic lanes, or possibly the median wall. GM seriously needs to consider workarounds. Harnesses stocked at assembly locations should be expedited to servicing dealers to fix existing vehicles. If a major crash happens, the cost to GM will be far greater in a lot more ways than the delay in producing new units.

I did go to a dealership for the recall. They checked the harness supposedly and did not see any issue but they wanted to change it anyways so they made me come back after a few days. But today I went and they said they got the wrong harness...they'll call me when they get a new one. They gave me a free tire rotation for wasting my time (as i am close to 15K miles). The dealer is not too keen on EVs and the whole business between GM and dealers is not very serious. This is not the way I would expect dealing with a recall that can cause crashes should go. The service specialist started by making sure I know that he is not fond of EVs...but otherwise courteous and professional.
I have a ding/crack that is slowly expanding on my windshield. I asked for a quote to replace it. It seems they don't have the windshield ...it is on back order. I was advised that safelite may have it. Goodness the whole thing is so disappointing and tiring.

GM dealer would not fix a small lag bolt in my tire, said it was too close to the side wall ( it was about 1 1/2 " in ) I left and went to a Pep Boys, manager measured it with a spot stick, said it was ok to repair and they did $26, saved me $250 from having to buy a new tire, I tipped them well ! 🤑

Very disappointed in GM. The experience was way better when we bought a Volt in 2014. There were actual engineers we could call to ask questions and flaws were quickly fixed. The charging scheduler actually allowed us to set a start time to save money on electricity. Now, it seems like they just want to give us the finger and tell us to crawl under a rock.

the only real concern is moving new units out the door and collecting the money. After that, screw u. They do not give a damn unless they get sued for wrongful death
Just follow he money and you will see their smiling faces and talons.

For a problem that could result in catastrophic outcomes, the company sure is dragging its feet getting the recall off the ground. Seems that the priority is building new vehicles to sell rather that protecting the lives of those who have already purchased.
Does everyone know the definition of avarice?

We took ours into the Dealer to have this looked at. We were told our harness was fine and looked like new. Well that was a damn lie, I just had the brakes lock up on me Tuesday afternoon. Both of my thumbs were dislocated, the ER never got my right thumb back in socket either. Now I need surgery.

I called the dealer when I got home and gave them hell for lying to me. They tried playing stupid so that turned me toward calling GM myself, the lady from GM got the dealer on a 3 way call with me. They tried giving her the run around while I was listening.

I want my car fixed but not by these lying people. They are supposed to come get it Monday morning along with a loaner. But, I got a call from them this morning saying sorry we can not give you a loaner because they don't have any. I asked then why did you tell the GM rep you did? Crickets and no direct answer, he realized I cought them lying again.
What am I supposed to do here? I need a car to get to work, I'm not renting one.
This isn't something that can be swept away, I'm not driving it when it's a death trap. I could have been rear ended and at highway speed that would have been bad. Should I just call my lawyer or what? I really want to go crack some skulls but that's my anger speaking.

If they don't have a loaner, they rent a car for you. That's what a dealer did for me, from the local Hertz place. They said it was in the warranty, so look it up. At least that dealer knew it and did it without my demanding.

The dealer should contact a rental car company, GM will pay for daily rental. Call GM back and get authorization. Because this is a safety recall situation you can use any dealer for repair.

I have a 2024 Blazer EV and I inspected my harness myself and mine looked great also, but I was told the harness should be cut open to inspect the wires inside. Hope this info helps someone else.
