There is a punishment. I can't remember it off the top of my head. The cars have to stay in demo status 90 days and then can be sold. However, the customer buying the retired demo is not eligible for the tax credit, which sucks.

Them from doing so. Get a slap on the wrist? Lol
That bites. They should just come out with customer orders. Why hype with demos when they have people waiting and waiting. Wild. There is a punishment. I can't remember it off the top of my head. They do this because otherwise the dealers would sell the cars they have and say they have nothing for customers to see and test drive. I remember when the MDX first came out in 2001 and the demand was so high no dealer had a unit to test drive. If you went to the dealer asking about one they would tell you sorry, there is nothing here to see or drive, but if you would like to put a deposit down today we might be calling you in 6 to 8 months when your order comes in... The question is how many on the waiting list will end up canceling when the car shows up if they don't at least have the opportunity to sit in one and look it over while they are waiting. I know the VW ID.4 has had a fairly significant cancellation rate on theirs according to the tracker on their forum. That was before VW turned off the reservation system of course. It’s wild they haven’t done that with many cars in the past. I mean I get they want to create buzz and hype. I’m pretty sure they have done that already. I know my dealer has a ton on a waiting list.
I hope a lot of people cancel so I can get mine quickerThe question is how many on the waiting list will end up canceling when the car shows up if they don't at least have the opportunity to sit in one and look it over while they are waiting. I mean this blazer is going to change the same for EVs. Even from the change from the minimalistic approach Tesla has. Pictures don’t do justice. You really need to see it in person. Seeing it in person myself made me confident in GM. hopefully the demo units get here in July as promised. The question is how many on the waiting list will end up canceling when the car shows up if they don't at least have the opportunity to sit in one and look it over while they are waiting. Done -- cancelled mine this morning due to their idiot move on removing android auto/carplay. Already got a preview of how they want to nickel and dime you with my 22 EUV, love the car, but GM's OnStar and integration is garbage when it comes to any form of connectivity.I hope a lot of people cancel so I can get mine quicker![]()

Before that it was my Volt -- so almost 10 years of the myChevrolet app being a turd, and they want to axe the one feature that's keeping them attractive.
The irony - Android auto/CarPlay only exist because the OEM software was garbage for decades. If they want to take another stab at it, that's fine, but I'm not going to pay for the privilege of using subscription based crapware.
Data is data -- them forcing OnStar as your only way to connect is just making you pay for something you are already paying for.
