I may be wrong but I do not believe any of the auto makers are gouging us on EV's (except maybe Tesla as the have been at it longer an have recouped their development costs (the rest of them have been forced to invest) (just look at their balance sheets) and yes some cars like some of the Lyrics do not qualify for one reason or another and they have to provide the $7.5k to get them sold. Trump will probably do away with the credit (hence why I bought mine now and also have solar) but I do not think he should, just tighten the US content requirement up as we do need to have an EV manufacturing base. But then I am MAGA all the way and am not kidding myself that I am saving the planet (just wanted my Blazer), I have a Diesel truck an two other cars.

Tell that to the $100k Silverado's. We got one near us that has been sitting for two months on a lot, Currently it's at 96k. If that isn't gouging I don't know what is. they must think that thing is made of gold. A lot of the parts looks to be the same as the Blazer for the interior so I can't imagine the bigger battery and heavier frame is that much more. I know Mary is great at keeping that stock price high though so she must have found a way to be making bank.

I have a 2024 Blazer EV RS RWD in Galaxy Gray with the sunroof (a rare combo from what I can work out)

I leased this back in April this year, and the residual was set at $36,908.80.

Out of curiosity, I contacted the same dealership used department and had them run the numbers and see what their offer would be for this car. They came back to me with $33k. I'm not really bothered, I'm not looking to trade as I'll be seeing the lease through to the end, but was still quite shocking to hear the sheer level of depreciation on this already. I of course understand that every single new car sold will undergo it's biggest percentage of depreciation within the first year (common rule I've heard is 10% as soon as you drive off the lot) but this seems extreme. The reasons cited were that they already bought 3 from other customers and they've had no interest in them at all, they're just sitting there. And also because the leases being offered are so cheap, no-one is even considering buying used on them right now.

I'm certainly glad I leased this rather than purchased.
You think that's bad? Oct. 2021 closed on pre ordered 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron. GREAT CAR! Just traded it in on 2024 model chevy EV. Audi purchased in 2021 for $70K. Trade-in, $26, 800. Audi offered $26,600 trade in on 2024 Q8 etron (10" longer wheel base, 3" wider) so it is slightly larger than the Q4. Basically, same drivetrain, handling, power 29 miles more range. Took an A$$ whoopin' on the trade in but I had put more miles on it than I planned on (30K) and because it is newer technology and unproven, compared to ICE vehicles. Bought a close out 2024 model with decent discount off msrp. So, it was only way I could justify the A$$ whoopin' I took on the trade in. I am not an Audi guy but in 2021 it was the most affordable SUV and reasonably priced compared to Tesla (junk- zero customer service and Orlando for service), Fords (2 choices), Chevrolet (had Hummer $110K and Silverrado) $95K, Porsche, BMW and all the rest only had hybrids or NO electric vehicles. Not many choices just 2-1/2 years ago.
Bought 2024 Blazer EV (my third Blazer). See the USA in a Chevrolet! You cannot get more American than Chevrolet (although disappointingly made in 3 countries USA, Mexico and Canada. Trump will fix this). Hands down! I'm HOME! I love this EV!

The raw materials come from Canada and US doesn’t have the labour to manufacture anything cost effectively. America, just keep on punching yourself in the face to say you won a fight.

all evs have poor resale value, partially due to aggressive cost reductions by Tesla that launched a price war for EVs. If you want to find some mad people find some tesla owners who got a model 3 or y before the massive price cuts of the last couple years- their resale values were decimated.
In my Opinion: Tesla is a horrible company to deal with. I was looking at their auto's in 2020-2021.
They seemed impressive and I was tempted. I decided to wait a bit and observe. What I saw was a company that had fantastic technological ambitions and a great idea. Then I watched the different models as they were introduced. Cookie cutter body lines. Different fronts and rear and slight differences on side lines. All of their research was going toward technology, and their designs were putrid at best. Same drive trains similar performance and crazy prices. One auto looked like the other. One had gull wings, some had suicide doors their SUV's were unremarkable. and their sedans were undesirable, Here comes their concept "pickup truck". It looked like a kid drew the design, right alongside stick figures. They felt a need to make them more desirable with airplane style steering wheels, Aluminum bodies and bullet proof glass, which had major fail when Musk presented in publicly and the glass shattered. I personally had a major fail with Tesla. Tesla also made solar panel and battery walls. I contacted Tesla and hired them at 9:30 am one morning, made a deposit and filled out forms on line. When I finished with the registration I emailed the engineer in charge. I asked for a phone call before setting the panel's grid, because the swimming pool screen rose 3' at rear of house and panels shaded by these screens would be unprotective. I called Tesla at 10am requesting this engineer call asap. No call. I called again at 1130am still in meeting I was told he was in meeting and he would call after the meeting. She went into the meeting and was told he would call when meeting ended. At 1230 I received an email with the grid set up. and the bottom panels were shaded. Shortly after I received an email from the manager stating he would call tomorrow or the next day.

I fired Tesla at that time.

No customer service and even though I was willing to spend $40K on panels and battery backup.

I had been reading reviews in regards to Tesla and their lack of customer service. People were paying $80K, $90k Asome were paying over $1 00K for these Tesla automobiles and no one could speak to a human. People were thrilled to get a Tesla car and when the doors wouldn't open or cracks and defects were observed in the paint. No customer service. I will never do business with Tesla.

I hope a Tesla goes bankrupt.

Elon seems nice and he seems extremely smart but his managers are a joke and apparently he is oblivious of all the problems

The value will drop pretty well in 2 years when all of the leases are up. We purchased ours as we plan on keeping it long term at least until the battery warranty runs out. My wife drives it primarily and she's very happy with it and not having to spend $60-70 every 10 days in gas and $120+ every few months in maintenance. Our electric bill has gone up maybe $60 a month with the charging at home we do.
Solar panel I charged my EV twice a week and my electric is under #30 per month in winter and under $100 in a/c weather here in Florida. If you shop around you can get ok prices on solar equipment. My savings in gasoline and electric my panels will pay for themselves in 6-8 years. If you are in central Florida 3 guys solar. They did me a solid.

The only extra "tax" I have to pay besides the normal registration fee is the new EV registration fee of $250 next year upon renewal. Several states have passed those laws to have us EV owners pay the loss of the gas taxes.
Move to Florida. Here in the USA (Florida) we have politicians who are smart. You other states need to come to the USA! LOL!

I personally got ripped off with solar in SC by a preacher of all folks. We financed 60k for all made in America (TX) equipment so that was the only positive. What we didn't understand at the time was the large fee added up front for goodleap financing. Then we found out or electric company doesn't do 1:1 like the salesman said as he was quoting the other electric company in the town. Ours does wholesale rates and full price at night. We wound up with a $230 solar bill that jumped to $330 since we didn't get the full tax credit in time as it took 2 years with our income. Add on top of that even though we generate roughly what we use in a year with the wholesale in the day and full price buyback at night we still pay about 60% of our electric bill. Total we went from about $350 a month electric to 650 total solar plus electric. Not fun and no batteries to boot.

You are a critic of $7500 rebate on EV's but took it. Makes you a hypocrite but yeah you would have to be pretty naive not to. I just bought my second EV and got the rebate twice now, which makes me REALLY stupid! I wasn't planning on buying second one yet but Trumps going to eliminate the rebate, even though I completely agree with the elimination of the rebate, and yes, I support President Trump 100%, I wasn't willing to wait to see if the EV's go down when the rebates go away. I am totally convinced; the manufacturers are inflating the MSRP on their Ev's because of the rebate. They are just a bunch of capitalist PIGS like the rest of us! I said this before (when I bought my first EV in 2021, it was a 2022 model) I will not buy another until they are competitively priced with the ICE vehicles and a have range over 500 miles. What's the point in buying an EV if the MSRP is 20-30% higher. Sure, I get the pollution factor but let's talk finances. You save a lot on gasoline, oil and maintenance, but the filthy PIGS get wealthy on the MSRP. NO MORE BS!
any basic understanding of what it takes to launch a new technology would reveal that EVs are more expensive because of the lack of economies of scale an the huge upfront investment into battery manufacturing, etc. Tesla was losing money for many years and became profitable partially due to selling energy credits. Tesla prices dropped in recent years because their vehicles are older, the tooling and facility costs are largely absorbed and they have better economies of scale- it took many years for Teslas pricing to drop to where it is now and all of their models where more expensive 3 or 4 years ago. In addition, you are leaving out the fact that most EVs sold in America DO NOT qualify for the tax credit so its a little ridiculous to say they are all overpriced by $7500 because of the "free money".

it isn't unusual that the residual value of a leased car is higher than the trade in value. Have you leased other cars before? Have you looked at the dealer used car lot? What cars do you see that you can purchase used for $33,000? I don't know the answer but maybe take a look.

Been there. Moved back. Nothing special about Florida politics. As to taxes, they get them in different ways in Florida. For us it got too congested. Too busy. Traffic everywhere and crazy drivers. Lots of fly by night contractors. We went through Hurricane IAN. Not interested in going through another one. And there will be more.

I agree, no interest in buying at EOL, no telling how much the prices will drop or increase after the tariffs cease.

it will be interesting to see what offers GM financial makes to lease holders at the end to try and encourage them to keep the cars. If they don't do that they are going to take massive hit on all the turned in cars.

I’m wondering that too. My end of lease buyout is $42k. (Summer 2026). Same car is around $32k used today 😬. If I was sent an offer around the fair market price, I’d probably take it - but absolutely not $42k!

Question will be what will be the price of second hand after the $7.5K and other rebates that GM is offering come to an end this month ?
I don't think it'll stay the same..It'll either go up if demand for second hand increase...or go down if the price of ICE vehicle go down and the demand for second hand EV vehicle goes down.

The demand is already down in my area Nashville and surrounding areas, range anxiety and now new reports saying EV's don't save as much as thought.

last month was the best month for sales ever of EVs. demand has not dropped off yet, maybe next month. This is also going to be the best quarter on record for EV sales which were nearly 10% of total sales last month. Also not sure why people would suddenly start getting range anxiety when the average range of an EV is longer than it's ever been.
